Consistency is king 👑
Struggling to stay consistent on socials? We got you… We know it is important to show up on socials, but we often see clients confuse consistency with constantly.
When we talk about consistency we are referring to knowing when you can show up and doing that regularly. This does not mean posting every single day (we love socials but that sounds like an absolute nightmare). We’re living proof that it’s possible to be consistent on socials without having to sacrifice all of your time.
Here are our top 3 tips to help you remain consistent on socials:
Set SMART goals: You know the concept of making goals specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely, but create them for your social media. Say your goal is to create an engaged, active community online, we’re going to take this goal and make it SMART which could take that original goal and turn it into something like this:
Spend 45 minutes on Instagram per day, engaging only with people who fit my target audience and aim to start 5 conversations, in order to reach an engagement rate of 15% on the majority of my posts by the end of the year.
Now you have a goal that will help you focus on every piece of content you release into the world, and something to measure them up against.
Quality over quantity: One good post will always outshine seven average posts. Rather than staring at your phone hoping for inspiration to come or posting for the sake of it, sit down with your favourite beverage, and get into your creative space. Use that time to create content that will inspire and engage your audience.
Scheduling posts: Ah the s-word, scheduling. We know this one is going to get a couple of eyerolls but hear us out…scheduling tools such as Facebook Creator Studio, Later and Plann has saved us HOURS of time plus it helps us stay accountable for showing up on socials. Aim to schedule one really good post a week, this will ensure that no matter what happens throughout the week, you know that at least one piece of meaningful content is going up on your socials and the best part is once you’ve created it, you don’t have to worry about it. No more posting two minutes before running those errands, no more posting without a purpose. Trust us, scheduling posts is a game changer.
When we say ‘consistency’ we don’t mean ‘constantly’. We don’t mean posting daily. And we absolutely don’t mean stressing yourself out because an Instagram guru gave you a precise formula to follow that guaranteed you thousands of followers.
Consistency is knowing when you can show up, and doing that regularly. You might only be able to commit 15 min to showing up on stories and posting on Instagram a week, and that’s EXCELLENT. Your weekly 15 minutes is infinitely more beneficial than old mate Sally’s 5 hours a day for the first 2 weeks of the year, then her Houdini act where she disappears until September 😅
Consistency is setting realistic and achievable goals, focusing on quality over quantity, and utalising tools where possible, and doing this regularly. It’s showing up when you can, and doing that every week/month/whatever you please, as long as it’s steady and regular 👏🏼
Get rid of that social media pressure, you don’t need that in your life in 2022 🙅🏼♀️
