Mandi - Viva Travel Club
Mandi is our favourite travel agent (only a little bit of bias), but she’s so much more than that! She’s also a marriage celebrant, professional traveller herself, and a darn good trivia team member! Being in the industry for as long as she has, she has had her career’s ups and downs, yet is still one of the most optimistic and positive people we’ve ever met. She LOVES love, and has even done her fair share of event management, so it just makes sense that she specialises in destination weddings and romance travel.
What advice would you give to your 15 year old self?
I think from a personal perspective it would be to always get back up no matter what throws you down, to trust your intuition and to never regret anything that made you smile. Hence my nickname of Tigger! In business though it would be to be very careful who you put your trust into, always do your due diligence and keep stuff to yourself!
What makes you proud to be a woman?
I am more proud that I am a decent human being that likes to treat everyone with respect. But as a woman we do continually have to juggle so much, be all things to all people, and get up usually multi task! I am proud that I am a fighter and am passionate about what I do, which makes the multi tasking easier!
What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?
Being caught out, not once but twice, by unscrupulous people, and having to fight tooth and nail to keep it going. Also trying to make myself heard above the white noise in my industry and stand out.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Ballerina, nurse, fairy, anything other than a travel agent!
Who inspires you the most and why?
On a personal level, it would be my mum who passed away 15 years ago. She was the original Tigger! She taught me perseverance, to always fight for what is right, and to always look through the rain to find the rainbows. I miss her terribly still. Professionally there are some amazing women out there who have done it tough and survived. At the moment I am in love with the speech Lady Gaga made at the Oscars!
